Kenaz for Claude Code and Codex v0.6.0

Kenaz, a Kameas AI product. · Released 2026-10-25 · Pre-release (early access)

This release is an early-access pre-release. It was published before our full cross-platform release testing (conformance) was run, so some combinations of operating system, Claude Code and Codex versions have not been tested yet. Please report problems to your Kameas contact or support@kameas.ai.

Install in one command

  • macOS and Linux: curl -fsSL https://downloads.kameas.ai/kenaz-plugin/install.sh | sh
  • Windows: irm https://downloads.kameas.ai/kenaz-plugin/install.ps1 | iex
  • macOS with Homebrew: brew install kameas-ai/tap/kenaz

Then run kenaz init. It puts kenaz on your PATH (it shows the change and asks first), signs you in, and sets up every supported app it finds. The installers check each download against the release checksums, and check its signature too if cosign is installed.

New

  • kenaz init: one command for PATH, sign-in and setup.
  • Claude Desktop's Code tab and the ChatGPT desktop app's Codex mode are covered by the same setup as Claude Code and Codex, because they run Claude Code and Codex.
  • Setup now uses the kenaz marketplace from GitHub if you already added it, and starts the Kenaz relay itself.

Also in 0.6.0

  • Homebrew upgrades no longer break the plugin. Setup now registers the plugin through Homebrew's kenaz link, not the versioned folder that brew upgrade deletes. If you installed 0.5.0 with Homebrew, run kenaz init once to repair the registration; until you do, kenaz status and kenaz setup doctor tell you to.
  • More ways to install: signed apt and dnf repositories for Linux (signing key fingerprint DC668C6D47790A18550C181208CC2C7D6AD44FDA), npm (npm install -g @kameas-ai/kenaz), and a Windows installer (.msi) for x86-64 and ARM64. These install the kenaz program only: add the plugin from the kenaz marketplace on GitHub, then run kenaz init. Steps: docs.kameas.ai/docs/kenaz-plugin/install.
  • Kameas Client Software License 1.2 is the licence now included with official builds.

Important if you are upgrading

  • From 0.3.x: unsent usage data is deleted once. Releases up to 0.3.x did not record which account their unsent usage data belonged to. The first time this version runs, it deletes any usage data still waiting to be sent from an earlier version, so that one account's data can never be sent under another. At most a short period of usage summaries is lost. Your memory notes are not affected.
  • Switching accounts. When you sign in as a different account, usage data from the previous account that hadn't been sent yet is deleted from this device and never sent.
  • Memory fix: please upgrade from 0.3.x. Kenaz 0.3.x could release a lock on its memory database while another Kenaz process was writing to it, which in rare cases could damage the memory file on your device. This is fixed in 0.4.1 and later. Nothing was sent anywhere because of this bug. If memory commands report an error after upgrading, run kenaz memory export to save what can still be read, then contact support.

Memory sync reminder

Memory sync is off until you turn it on. kenaz memory forget-all erases your account's notes in Kameas Fleet, on this device, and on your other devices when they next connect, including notes there that hadn't been synced yet. Notes that belong to a single project are kept.
