Organizations & Teams
Every Fleet account belongs to an organization. On the Team plan, an org can contain multiple teams and many members. On Pro, an org contains a single seat (yours).
Organizations
When you complete sign-up, Fleet creates your organization automatically. The person who signs up becomes the org owner — the account with full administrative authority.
You manage your organization from the Org Settings page in the Fleet dashboard: update the display name, transfer ownership, or delete the org.
Teams
Teams are sub-groups within an org. An org owner or admin can create any number of teams, assign members to them, and remove members.
Teams are the unit of shared context: shared knowledge, facts, and reference material you publish can be scoped to a specific team so it only lands in the Harnesses of members who belong to that team.
Who can manage teams: org owners and admins. Regular members can read the team roster but cannot create, rename, or delete teams.
Member roles
Every member of an org holds one of three roles:
| Role | What they can do |
|---|---|
| org_owner | Full control — org settings, billing, membership, roles, SSO config, routing policy, audit log, emergency lockdown. Only one owner per org; ownership can be transferred to another admin. |
| org_admin | All of the above except changing billing details, transferring ownership, deleting the org, and minting SCIM tokens. Can manage all members and teams, configure SSO, write routing policy, and read/export the audit log. |
| org_member | Read the org and member list, contribute to the team context graph, manage their own notification preferences and telemetry opt-ins. Cannot manage other members, change policy, or access billing. |

Inviting members
Only org owners and admins can send invitations. To invite someone:
- Open Members in the Fleet dashboard and click Invite members.
- Enter one or more work email addresses and choose a role (admin or member) for each.
- Each invitee receives an email with a link. Accepting the invite provisions their account.
Invitations expire. If someone hasn't accepted by the time the invite expires, an admin can resend it from the Pending invitations list.
You cannot invite someone with the org_owner role directly. If you need to transfer ownership to another person, use Settings → Transfer ownership after they've joined as an admin.
Removing members
Org owners and admins can remove a member at any time from the Members page. Removing a member revokes their access immediately — their Harness will lose sync on the next connection attempt.
Seat counts (Team plan)
On the Team plan, your subscription covers a minimum number of seats. Seats adjust automatically as members join and leave; you're billed for the greater of your minimum or your current member count. You can always see your current seat count in Settings → Billing.
